TIM LYNCH

Tim Lynch is the Director of Theatre Arts at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where he has built one of the state’s most successful and nationally recognized theatre programs. In his first year at Ridge, he received the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Outstanding Educator, as well as Outstanding Direction of a Play for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. His production of Newsies went on to earn Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical, while the 2024 fall play Radium Girls was honored with Outstanding Overall Production of a Play at Montclair State.

Before joining Ridge, Lynch served as Theatre Arts Director at Watchung Hills, where he was named Best New Theatre Educator by the Montclair Theatre Night Awards in 2022. He also taught at Summit High School for six years, directing, mentoring, and coaching its nationally competitive Forensics Team. His students earned top honors at tournaments hosted by Princeton, Yale, and Harvard, with one student taking first in the nation in Dramatic Interpretation in 2018. He also takes particular pride in his many years teaching in the special education department at Summit, where he worked to ensure accessibility and inclusion in the arts.

Directing Philosophy

Lynch’s productions are known for their rigorous preparation, imaginative staging, and emotional depth. He emphasizes detailed research, ensemble collaboration, and professional-level discipline—whether directing a full-scale musical or an intimate drama. His approach has consistently transformed young performers into confident, skilled storytellers, while fostering creativity and leadership among student technicians and crew members.

Beyond the Stage

Outside the theatre, Tim Lynch enjoys traveling to exotic countries, exploring New Jersey’s dog beaches, and spending time with his beloved dog, Fritz.
